Farsound Aviation is a global provider of supply chain and logistics solutions for the aerospace industry. Ascending from a successful global expansion plan, the company was experiencing significant growth in their customer base and wanted to create an exemplary aerospace office design to support the expansion of their team, their services and their market reach.
Farsound had a brief to create a more invigorating workplace concept for their growing staff that was better purposed to meet their corporate and environmental objectives. Working in collaboration with project managers Knight Frank and architects Birch Freeman, our traditional team successfully delivered a more people-centric workplace concept abundant with staff amenities.
Demonstrating the effectiveness of our traditional team, we worked in close association with the client’s project team early on in order to gain a thorough understanding of this aerospace office design concept. This enabled us the foresight to ensure the original design intent could be realised through coordinated detailing and technical planning.
Design details include hexagonal ceiling details and bold feature colours which contrast against a primary palette of dark desaturated colours to emulate the clients corporate branding. Industrial accents, including a 500kg aeroplane engine feature in the reception help further connect clients and staff to the company’s identity.
Significant investment in creating ample staff amenities such as an on-site gym, staff canteen, relaxation spaces, games rooms and yoga areas required considered phasing and coordination of a number of specialist sub-contractors. Through early collaboration with our trusted supply chain in the pre-construction phase, we were able to find quality solutions that fit within the specified budget and programme requirements.
Farsound’s relocation also presented an opportunity to enhance their offering in terms of warehouse space. Here our technical construction team provided a compact engineering solution, including the design and installation of a complex mechanical and electrical system, including heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, fire protection and security systems that would allow the warehouse to be easy to run and maintain. Our on-site construction team worked closely with specialist subcontractors to ensure these systems were installed to the highest standards.
In line with Farsound’s industry leading sustainability programme, the space has been designed with sustainability and eco-friendly construction at its heart. Solar panels on the roof provide electricity for power and lighting, EV charge points are installed in the car park for electric vehicles, and reclaimed greywater is used for flushing toilets.
This state-of-the-art aerospace office created for Farsound Aviation showcases the effectiveness of our traditional team in delivering a people-centric workplace that meets both corporate and environmental objectives. Industrial features and bold design details, combined with ample staff amenities and sustainable construction, has created a destination aerospace office design that staff can be proud of, and one that will support Farsound’s continued growth and success in the industry.
