Job description:

We are looking for a motivated, focused and skilled Pre-Contracts Professionals at a Senior level to join and support our existing Pre-Contracts team across the AIS Group.

The ideal candidate will have worked in the commercial interiors industry, with an estimating or quantity surveying background and have extensive experience with the analysis of tender documentation and the assessment of the responding strategy required including preliminary budgets, resourcing, risk analysis, value engineering, scheduling and the definition of bid packages.

Strong attention to detail and analytical skills are required, as well as the flexibility to work across a range of different projects.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Understanding and analysis of tender documentation to interpret the clients brief
  • Develop clear, concise and appropriate cost plans in line with design, sales and subcontractors
  • Liaising with the client, suppliers, engineers, designers and architects to ensure competitive pricing
  • Accurate Cost planning and value engineering to meet client requirements
  • Producing detailed project programmes
  • JCT contract knowledge
  • Experience working with building control and the acquisition of planning approvals and permits
  • Understanding of various construction/fit out methods and appropriate H&S measures

Job Summary:

As a Technical Designer with AIS, you will be responsible for producing detailed technical design solutions that should meet both the client and AIS’s objectives and expectations. You will be involved in the whole process from reviewing the clients brief and assisting with the pitch process through to the completion of the project on site.

Excellent detailed technical knowledge is a must and the ability to really engage with a project, to take on the nuances of the chosen building and align these with the clients and designers requirements are key to a being successful in this role. You will need to be commercially minded and have the ability to design within a budget and to tight time scales.

Responsibilities often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • To provide technical drawing support and assistance to the Creative team
  • To liaise with sub-contractors on technical aspects of design concepts in the pitch phase.
  • To liaise with sub-contractors to further develop technical aspects of design concepts in the design development phase.
  • To develop detailed project drawing packs.
  • To ensure our designs are adhering to building control regulations.
  • To work with the team and ensure successful project implementation
  • To ensure standards are maintained on site
  • To attend sub-contractor and client site meetings when required
  • To gain commercial awareness
  • To keep up-to-date with latest products and techniques to ensure we are making the best recommendations to our clients.
