Technical Services Manager

What inspired you to pursue your current career, and how did you get started in this field?

From a young age, I have always been hands-on, wanting to get involved in everything that my dad was doing. I’ve always been drawn to seeing something go from an idea on paper into something physical. There’s something satisfying about walking by a completed building and being able to say, I played a role in making that happen.

What tips would you give to someone just starting in your profession?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Every day is a learning day regardless of experience. I found that more experienced workers respected curiosity and eagerness to learn. I’d also advise getting familiar with the basics of construction, the ability to read drawings and understand the various processes involved.

How has your role evolved since joining AIS?

With my previous experience in the electrical industry, I joined AIS as an Assistant Technical Services Manager. Over the last year, my role has evolved into working independently on multiple projects across the business from initial tender through to completion.

What drew you to work at AIS?

The opportunity for growth within the business. Personal development is always at the forefront when considering your place of work, and I feel as though AIS provides a perfect balance for this to happen. After my first interview, I knew instantly that the environment and the company were somewhere where I could see myself working. We have a small technical team but a strong one.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced at work, and how did you overcome it?

Working on multiple projects at once. This can be quite daunting at times, with various teams and projects requiring your attention. How I overcome this is by ensuring my time management is maintained, prioritising tasks and having dedicated times throughout the week/days to work on individual projects.

What’s a memorable moment you’ve had while working here?

Being a part of and witnessing the fit-out of the Revolut HQ in Canary Wharf. The transformation was truly incredible.

What do you like best about our company culture?

What I like best about the company culture is the strong sense of teamwork and mutual respect. In the construction industry, collaboration and a will to succeed together are key when delivering high-quality work. Everyone seems to take pride in not just getting the job done, but in doing it together and maintaining a positive attitude even when things get challenging on-site. That kind of environment makes a huge difference, and it keeps morale high

What’s your go-to productivity tip?

Starting each day by clearly identifying my top priorities for the day. I ensure all items are written down in my notebook. I then tackle the most important items first before any additional distractions pile up.
