Revolut London

Revolut is a company defined by pace, ambition and disruption, and its new global headquarters in Canary Wharf has been designed to match this vision. The brief given to design and construction experts AIS was to create a workplace that was an extension of the brand, through London’s largest ever design and build project. The aim was to create an office that employees want to come into every day, not through obligation, but because it inspires creativity, collaboration, and a sense of belonging. The 113,000 sq ft HQ in the YY Building does just that, while redefining workplace design through insight and innovation.

This was never just about creating an office. Revolut wanted a workplace that felt like an extension of the brand: ambitious, disruptive, and unapologetically people-focused. As the team explained, “The workplace wasn’t just a utility, it was an extension of our brand as a lifestyle platform and a cultural beacon for recruitment and retention.”

The goal was clear: to design a space employees wanted to come into every day – not because they had to, but because it inspired creativity, collaboration, and belonging. Delivered after 10 months on site and more than 180,000 build hours, is a headquarters that blends the comfort of home with the edge of innovation.

Designing for people, brand, and growth

AIS’s role was not to impose a vision, but to translate Revolut’s global ambition into a future-ready environment. Every design decision was made to protect and nurture the culture of innovation that defines the brand, while supporting agility and long-term growth.

“We’re here to design, shape, and form the environment that supports our clients’ vision for the future. That means understanding their ambitions at the deepest level and creating spaces that bring them to life.” – Simon Hart, Creative Director, AIS.

This partnership was built on trust, openness, and shared ambition. AIS became an extension of Revolut’s leadership team, making real-time decisions that kept the project moving at pace while staying true to the vision.

From storytelling to lived experience

What made AIS’s approach stand out was storytelling. Rather than just presenting visuals, the pitch showed how the office would be lived in, from daily workflows to social interactions in the gym, sauna, and auditorium. This ability to connect design to lived experience gave Revolut confidence that AIS understood its mission.

Together, the teams created a workplace that blended brand ambition with future-facing innovation, introducing defining features such as integrated technology and expansive LED walls, now a signature element of the HQ.

Data-led design at scale

Revolut’s London HQ was not designed on instinct alone – it was powered by data. AIS used workplace analytics, productivity studies, and industry benchmarking to shape everything from floorplate layouts to the balance of focus, collaborative, and social zones.

As Revolut highlighted, “What truly set AIS apart was the strategic thinking and data underpinning their approach” Gareth Morgan, Head of Global Brand, Revolut.

This evidence-based method enabled AIS to push beyond convention, introducing more cultural and social spaces than a typical HQ. By deliberately breaking away from industry norms, AIS delivered a people-centred workplace strategy that is uniquely Revolut; bold, innovative, and designed to support wellbeing, performance, and long-term agility.

Reimagining spatial flow

Instead of a uniform office, AIS created a series of distinct zones, each with its own purpose and energy. Focus areas were carefully insulated from noise, while collaboration hubs were designed to spark creativity through open interaction and enclosed teamwork spaces. Social areas blended hospitality with workplace functionality, making the office feel more like a neighbourhood than a corporate HQ.

A non-negotiable principle was reserving the best parts of the floorplate – the areas with the most natural light and views for employees. Unlike traditional layouts where executives claim prime real estate, Revolut placed workstations here, reinforcing its values of inclusivity, openness, and forward-thinking design.

Furniture that tells the story

Furniture was treated as a central storytelling tool, not an afterthought. AIS curated bespoke pieces that gave each zone its own identity while fostering collaboration, focus, and comfort.

“Furniture brings the space to life, it’s how people engage. For Revolut, it was about creating a workplace that feels ambitious yet homely.” – Maddy Cox, Head of Furniture, AIS

From lounge-style seating for relaxed discussions to barista bars and terraces for social collaboration, every piece was chosen to support interaction and choice. The result: a workplace that feels less like a corporate HQ and more like a space people choose to be part of.

Setting a new benchmark for the future of work

Revolut’s London headquarters is more than an office, it’s a symbol of ambition and a blueprint for the future of work. It shows how real estate can embody brand, culture, and employee experience, creating environments that actively attract, inspire, and retain talent.

For Revolut, this HQ is a cultural beacon: a physical manifestation of values and vision, signalling to the financial world that the company is here to lead.

For AIS, it is proof that bold partnership, data-led design, and storytelling can deliver workplaces that go beyond functionality – creating experiences that are ambitious, human, and unmistakably future-facing.
