Choosing to occupy the historic grade II listed Sion Hall Building situated on the banks of London's River Thames, our brief was to create a flexible and comfortable satellite office for, travelling employees visiting London from the companies various locations across the world.

With stunning views of the Thames and equally impressive and intricate gothic style period features throughout, the space was formally home to Sion College. Repurposing the space into a modern workplace was an opportunity to give the building a new lease of life and suitably return it to it’s original function.

Enriching
Environments
Injecting new purpose into this grade II listed space required careful consideration of the inherent aesthetic qualities and how people will experience interaction in the space. We carefully planned the space in close collaboration with the project team to ensure the resulting environment would harness the best of the existing space and optimising it's new purpose.

Exploration

The new workplace needed to be modern and highly functional to support the needs of travelling executives. Strict planning legislation meant we were unable to make complex structural changes to the building. Through intelligent space planning we allocated a purpose to each existing area, carefully considering the adjacency of each space to ensure flow and function were optimised across each of the three floors.

People
People will always thrive from social interaction. Facilitating this in a drop in office environment with mostly mobile occupants can be tricky but through the layering of cellular spaces above open plan space and allowing visual lines of connectivity between the two allows staff to maintain a sense of interaction at all times.

Creation

A number of wellbeing spaces were incorporated including a fitness room, cinema and games room to help rejuvenate travelling employees allowing them to perform at their best while away from home. A variety of meeting rooms are scattered through the space catering for teams of two through to twenty.

Realisation

The space has been transformed from its once traditional state to a modern, energised and warm environment to help travelling staff continue with their working needs. Quiet spaces allow staff to re-charge, while working spaces are well equip to make staff feel like the space is a home away from home.
