Empowering collaboration and well-being: The Checkout.com workspace revolution

The push for this project came from Checkout.com’s growth in the region, prompting a transition from serviced offices to a bespoke workspace. Recognising the importance of creating an inviting, enjoyable environment after months of remote work, we collaborated closely with the Checkout.com team to shape their design brief.

Guided by their desires which emphasised encouraging unity post-pandemic, we implemented an activity-based working model. Various work settings like meeting rooms, solo and duo working pods, desks, phone booths and casual seating areas cater to diverse activities and boost productivity.

Promoting wellness in the workplace was another core brief component and so the design included a wellness room, providing a quiet, comfortable space for team members to relax, make calls or find a moment of tranquillity, essential element for mental well-being.

The heart of the new Checkout.com workplace is a communal area at the entrance, designed to foster a sense of community and collaboration. This space, complete with a communal tea point and breakfast bar serves as a vibrant center within the office, encouraging interaction, socialising and casual meetings.

Crafting a dynamic and inclusive workspace

The heart of the new Checkout.com workplace is a communal area at the entrance, designed to foster a sense of community and collaboration. This space, complete with a communal tea point and breakfast bar serves as a vibrant center within the office, encouraging interaction, socialising and casual meetings.

The tiered bleacher-style seating allows for easy transformation into an event area, connecting Checkout.com’s offices worldwide and facilitating company-wide presentations. To maintain a lively atmosphere, we employed a monochromatic colour palette alongside local street art and biophilic elements. Floor-to-ceiling windows span the entire space, flooding it with natural light, creating an open and uplifting ambiance on sunny days.

Despite pandemic-related supply chain challenges, effective communication and supply chain management ensured minimal disruption to the project.
